Daily Itinerary
Col du Télégraphe & Col du Galibier
We begin our French Alps adventure with a spectacular ride from Valloire to Briançon. The route takes us over two of the most iconic climbs in cycling history: the Col du Télégraphe and the mighty Col du Galibier (2,642 m). The long, steady climbs reward us with dramatic views of the high alpine terrain before a thrilling descent into Briançon.
Col d'Izoard Loop
A classic loop from Briançon over the legendary Col d'Izoard (2,360 m). We tackle the climb from the south side, passing through the surreal, lunar-like landscape of the Casse Déserte — a place steeped in Tour de France history. After reaching the summit, we enjoy a sweeping descent back to our base.
Col de la Croix de Fer
Today we take on the Col de la Croix de Fer (2,067 m) from Bourg-d'Oisans. This long, irregular climb is a true test of pacing, featuring steep ramps interspersed with flatter sections and even short descents. The summit offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks and the pristine Lac de Grand Maison.
Alpe d'Huez & Col d'Ornon
The day you've been waiting for: the 21 hairpins of Alpe d'Huez. We tackle the most famous climb in cycling, following in the tire tracks of legends. After conquering the Alpe, we continue our ride over the quieter, but equally beautiful, Col d'Ornon to complete a fantastic day in the saddle.
Alpe d'Huez to Galibier Loop via Col de Sarenne
A spectacular and challenging loop that links Alpe d'Huez with the Galibier. We start by climbing the rugged and wild Col de Sarenne, a hidden gem behind Alpe d'Huez. The route then takes us through the spectacular Romanche valley before tackling the Galibier from the Lautaret side, completing an epic day of climbing.
Col de la Madeleine
We head to the Maurienne valley to climb the Col de la Madeleine (1,993 m) from La Chambre. This is a long, relentless climb that rarely drops below 8% gradient. The effort is rewarded with magnificent views of the Mont Blanc massif from the summit, followed by a fast, technical descent.
Mont Ventoux
We conclude our tour with the Giant of Provence: Mont Ventoux (1,909 m). We tackle the classic and most challenging ascent from Bédoin, riding through the forest before emerging into the famous barren, lunar landscape for the final kilometers to the observatory. A fitting and unforgettable finale to our French Alps Classic.
